How To Manage Stress?

A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience raised a glass of water and asked,

"How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem..

If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.

If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management.

If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, the burden will become increasingly heavy: and we won't be able to carry on.

''As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.

So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down: don't carry it at home.
You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can.'"
So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you right now. Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.

Thoughts to Ponder: WORDS

WORDS....

Oh they slip so easy from our lips. Sometimes so fast that we don't even have time to think what we said. But we can tell by the expression on our listeners face that they were not well chosen. We either shot an arrow into someone's back or into the heart of our listener. It is then to late , we either have to apologise quickly or permanant damage is done.
Positive begets positive while negative begets negative. Always think positive to say only the good things about people and not their faults.
Words can tear people apart or they can be like an helium baloon and lift people up and cheer their hearts.make sure your words today are will chosen and they lift people up.

Uniform

Every year our school issued us cloth for our uniform, it is always different in color, fabric that's why we have a collection of uniforms in our closet.

In my nine years of stay in the university i now have eight sets of uniforms. The latest in our collection is a peach and blue silk fabric with checkered dark gray for blazer and pants.

This year unlike the past year the management did not give us specific design, so its upto us to choose our own design as long as we use the same color assigned for the day.

In our department we came up with an aggreement that we would have only one design, the problem is what design?

We browse through the internet and here are some of our finds....

Just imagine our different body weights, shapes...etc...

....can somebody post something for middle weights, heavy weights, pear shaped, petite, apple shape, pineapple shape, coca cola shape and not just for straight shape!

A Fight Against Heart Problem

Since 2004 I just lived my life on a day to day basis. It was that year that I was diagnosed with a Rheumatic Heart Disease. A disease that according to my co-worker, "I am a walking time bomb".
I will be a hypocrite if I did'nt say that I was afraid, but then I'm still single and no boyfriend, so just continue to enjoy life and travel places so as not to waste time.

Year 2007, I met my soulmate and then it was time to think of my health and seek medical help from the experts. 2008 came and my beautiful gift came to this world, Jorey. I have to exert extra effort in being healed because my gift is "kulet na" and "likot na" so as to cope with the super extra energy daughter .

July 31, 2009 the healing year. From 0.79, my mitral valve now is 2.4, by PTMC procedure. A not so painful but discomforting medical procedure.

I still not feel the difference but i was comforted by the thought that in the near days, I can now play with my daughter without having to feel faint from lack of breath.

Thank you to all my families, my UB family, my doctors and nurses and most importantly to HIM for giving me my inspirations to get healed.

What Makes a Good Leader?

There's no point in having a good idea if you can't tell anybody what it is. Like giving a gift, leaders learn how to take a thought, wrap it in words, and present it to one or more of their associates.

This "communication gift-giving" is both delicate and deliberate. First, the thought must be relevant. It must speak to the issues of the listener, Second, it must be well-wrapped. Leaders learn the language. They are as comfortable with a comma as they are with a question mark. Nouns and verbs are parked in their reserved spaces, and adjectives and adverbs don't embarrass their subjects. Third, the presentation should be clear, concise, correct, and generously decorated with humorous or poignant illustrations.

Good communicators leave no doubt about the meaning of their message. They know that the communication process isn't complete until the audience has both listened and understood the delivered message. When great leaders communicate, everyone around them knows what's going on. They know because the leader made sure of it.

"To be effective, Leaders must know how to communicate their visions effectively and how to enlist the cooperation of others."

Quotables Quotes: "Ang Buhay Nga Naman" (Oh...That's Life)

Sometimes we needed to hear and read inspirational quotes and stories to surpass this critical and recession times.

"The people on our planet are not standing in a line single file. Look closely.
Everyone is really standing in a circle, holding hands.
Whatever you give to the person standing next to you,
it eventually comes back to you."

"While earning you daily bread, be sure
you share a slice with those less fortunate."

An older gentlemen in front of me at the check ou at
Kroger's was wearing a hat with this inscription:

IF WE HAD KNOWN GRANDKIDS WERE SO MUCH FUN,
WE'D HAVE HAD THEM FIRST.
I bet he's a great grandad.

Life is teaching you some painful lessons.
But is is from adversity that strength is born.
You may have lost the inning, but I know
you'll win the game.

A survey asked, "Who are the happiest people?"
The four winning answers were:

A craftsman or artist whistling over a job well done.
A child building sand castles.
A mother bathing her baby.
A doctor who has finished a difficult
operation and saved a life.

Money, power and
possessions were not mentioned.

I Am Not Crazy!

Just last night I received a good news that also makes me sad and make me ask" what's wrong with men these days? Do they know how to recognize a diamond from foil? A fake one from a real gem?

I love this person very much and somebody hurt her that makes me wanna cry in silent protest against her present situation. I want to be there for her and I want to hate the person who put her in this situation.

I am in dilemma because I don't know how to help her tell her parents about her situation eventhough I've been there 1 or 2 years ago. What I did was to ask the help of my friends which is also a friend of my parents. Who will act as a moderator this time? I don't wanna compare myself to her because she's much stronger and intelligent but she's now in this situation.

I'm mixed emotions right now, i want to get angry, i want to cry, shout " damn all the irresponsible men", i am sad, frustrated and at the same time happy. I am not crazy but I am clueless on what's the best thing to do, because i'm not sure if what i'm thinking will produce good results and will be beneficial to all the parties involved.

Our Eyes: How to Nourish our Vision

Nourish your vision....

The eyes need Vitamin A to make pigments that absorb light. Carrots and sweet potatoes have betacarotene, a precursor form of vitamin A so eat lots of these. Other rich sources of vitamin A include fish and full cream dairy products.

Vitamin C and E , which has antioxidant properties may help slow progression of cataracts. Nuts and seeds has lots of Vitamin A and Citrus fruits and brocolli for Vitamin C.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are two dominant pigments found in the macula of the eye which may filter out some of the harmful light that can damage the retina. Lutein is in leafy vegetables and egg yolk, while zeaxanthin is in greens, red capsicum and corn.

Zinc can also slow age-related macular degeneration, so maintain your intake of this nutrient through seafood, meat, poultry and beans.

I need and want to...Help me!

I need to learn to understand each person's personalities, why they are like this and like that.

I need to learn to practice patience to my coleagues.

I need to make people see that I am also a person who can be hurt by their words.

I need to see a psychiatries, maybe I am really the person to blame for their misfortunes.

I want to be able to tell on a persons face to shut up....you're really hurting me..

I need to stand up on my own and be assertive.

I need to tell them about my feelings and plans in the future so that they will not be shock.

If only I can do this immediately!!!

Resign and stay at home and take care of my child and parents.

Be financially independent.

Be healed from my heart ailments.

Be free from all the heartaches and pain.

Please Help me!!! I need to understand that I am still living and I still have to endure and surpass all these pains!!!

Am I really the person to blame?

Am I really the person to blame?...
Office scenario...Lunch break...five to six persons are eating together from different offices with only one department. Kwentuhan....dessert... turon and then one topic led to another and to only one person.. Peanut... her nickname.

She used to be my immediate superior when I was still a working student. She used to be nice to me, and i am to her. It all started when she became my colleague and we became co-workers with the same status in the university. I don't know what happened to her but she became my tormentor, always checking if i did something wrong and telling everybody about it, in other words she became a pain in the ass.

She's now telling everybody that i am ungrateful to her...for what? I telling this story now because my colleague now is experiencing what i have been experiencing in the past and they are blaming me. For what? because i am associated daw with them, kaya damay daw sila. Is it really my fault? Ang sakit nilang magsalita...wala daw akong utang na loob...eh wala na nga akong connection sa kanya ngayon.. as much as possible i stear clear of her path... we don't cross our paths now. I am not talking to her and she's to me.

The Prayer

I asked God to take away my bad habit
God said "NO"
It is not for me to take away, it is for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said "NO" her spirits is whole, his body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
He said "NO", Patience is a by-product of tribulations, it isn't granted but learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
He said "NO".
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said "NO".
I will give you life, so that you might enjoy all the things.

May God Bless us all!!!

Jorella at 16 Months

Jhorella Mae Gabriel or we call her jorey is now 16 months old. She's now walking and sometimes trying to jump and run on the bed. She can now easily say "mama, papa, tata, na...." and ahahahaha... which we don't understand. She hums when she hears her favorite songs like "I love you" by Barney, Cuppy Cake and TV commercials (Frutini, Colgate etc.)

She's not always in good mood, she's now trying our patience especially during changing of diapers. She will sit and even lay down on anything if she's irritated or we get something she's playing.

She knows hand language of saying goodbye, flying kiss, appear, align...

I hope in the next month she can say more words....

Cancer is the number 1 disease now that kills a person. One of the causes of cancer is smoking, and quitting it is very hard because it's like drugs that can be addictive.

The Devil and The Duck

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved! In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his Sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing. After lunch the next day Grandma said, 'Sally, let's wash the dishes' But Sally said, 'Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck? So Johnny did the dishes.
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said, "well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help? She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help. After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Moral of the Story:
Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.)...whatever it is...You need to know that:

"God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. "

"He has seen your whole life... He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you. "

"The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness; He not only forgives you, but He forgets. "

Paulo Coelho The Zahir: A Novel of Obsession

Paulo Coelho "The Zahir: A Novel of Obsession"

Zahir, in Arabic, means visible, present, incable of going unnoticed. It is someone or something which, once we have come into contact with them or it, gradually occupies our every thought, until we think of nothing else. This can be considered either a state of holiness or of madness.
Fauborg Saint-Peres (Encyclopaedia of the Fantastic (1953))

"The extraordinary new International Bestseller from Paulo Coelho is a haunting and redemptive story about obsession and its potential to both fulfill our dreams and destroy them."

Synopsis:

" The narrator is a best selling novelist who lives in France and enjoys all the privileges his money and celebrity bring. His wife of ten years, Esther, is a war correspondent who has disappeared along with a friend, Mikhail, who may or may not be her lover. Was Esther kidnapped, murdered, or did she simply escape a marriage that left her unfulfilled? The narrator does'nt know where to to start looking for Esther, or if, in fact, he even wants her back. Then, one day, Mikhael finds the abondoned husband and promises to reunite him with his wife. And in his attepmt to recapture a lost love, the narrator will discover something unexpected about himself."

Some phrases, lines and quotes in this book:

"We must never make our parents sad, even if this means giving up everything that makes us happy".

"Why do we love certain people and hate others?

Where do we go after we die?

Why are we born if, in the end, we die?

What does God mean"

"Love was also a synonym for tenderness, security, prestige, comfort, success. Love could be translated into smiles, into words like " I love you" or " I feel so happy when you come home".

"Love is a disease no one wants to get rid of. Those who catch it never try to get better, and thos who suffer do not wish to be cured."

"He taught me to love myself rather than to love him. He showed me that my heart was at the service of myself and of God, and not at the service of others."

"Suffering occurs when we want other people to love us in the way we imagine we want to be loved, and not in the way that love should manifest itself--free and untrammeled, guiding us with its force and driving us on."

Hire an architect you can trust and you're not intimidated to challenge the design. Always check his previous projects and asked for a sketch of his ideas. If it suits your own ideas, hire him and always agree on a fixed fee.

Step 3: Planning the House
The owner should be involved in planning the house. The longe it takes discussing the plans the less changes there will be during construction. The design phase should'nt be rushed. Argue constructively. Get your money's worth, say what you want, and let the architect worry about it. His job is to fit it into a concept and filter what works.

Step 4: Choose the Contractor
Ask the architect to recommend contractors and then both of you chooses.

Step 5: Paper Chase
The contractor took care of getting building permits from the city hall and village administration.

Step 6: Construction
The architect should be checking the quality of work of the contractors. The materials should be test for strength.

Taking time, doing your homework and carefully choosing the people your going to work with will make a big difference in building your dream home.

Time and efforts are needed to enjoy your hard earned money and to reside in a comfortable home you dreamed off.

How to Control Emotions!!!

Here’s a funny way of reminding us how to handle our emotions.

HOW TO CONTROL EMOTIONS

This will guide you on how to control your emotions towards your better-half, friends, officemates and all the people around you.

The rules of practicing "ugaling langit, ugaling kaaya-aya" :

3. Ang taong galit, 'bingi.' If someone is angry, wala raw pinakikinggan, so, don't try to explain and fight back. Hindi ka niya iintindihin dahil wala siyang naririnig kundi ang sarili nya.

4. Ang taong galit, 'abnoy.' Ayon sa pastor, Biblical daw ito because the Lord said when He was crucified, "Father, patawarin mo sila dahil hindi nila alam ang kanilang ginagawa." Modern term for these kinds of people are abnoys, so you better not get angry para huwag kang matawag na abnoy.

You should also know and realize that the people who make your day bad are jewels, because you need them for you to mature. Hangga't andyan daw sila at kinaiinisan mo, ibig sabihin, immature ka pa. God will not take away those people; it's for you to take away your bad feelings towards them. You'll know na mature ka na pag dumating 'yung time na hindi ka na naiinis sa mga taong ito because you have learned to accept them and to have patience with them.

5. Finally, the best part of this is to tell yourself na, because of this person, "I will grow in maturity," and that DAHIL SA CONTRIBUTION NIYA SA MATURITY MO, KUKUNIN DIN SYA NI LORD.

pag ngumiti ka..ibig sabihin, naka relate ka....

We're now nearing our second year anniversary as husband and wife, everyday is a revelation because were still discovering each others personalities. We still lived apart because of our work but we have constant communications, thanks to cellphone.

" They say marriages are made in heaven, but so are thunder and lightning." Clint Eastwood

If in the future will have misunderstandings, I'll just remember that this is the man I choose to be with for the rest of my life and I Love Him.

The Twelve Commandments of Living a Happy Life

The Twelve Commandments of Living a Happy Life

1. Make up your mind to be happy. Learn to find pleasure in simple things

2. Make the best of your circumstances. No one has everything, and everyone has something of sorrow intermingled with gladness of life. The trick is to make the
laughter outweigh the tears.

3. Don't take yourself too seriously. Don't think that somehow you should be protected from misfortune that befalls other people.

4. You can't please everybody. Don't let criticsm worry you.

5. Don't let your neighbor sets the standards. Be yourself.

6. Do the things you enjoy doing but stay out of debt.

7. Never borrow trouble.Imaginary things are harder to bear than real ones.

8. Since hate poisons the soul, do not cherish jealousy. Avoid people who make you unhappy.

9. Have many interests. If you can't travel, read about new places.

10. Don't hold postmortems. Don't spend your time brooding over sorrows or mistakes. Don't be one who never get over things.

11. Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself
