What Makes a Good Leader?

There's no point in having a good idea if you can't tell anybody what it is. Like giving a gift, leaders learn how to take a thought, wrap it in words, and present it to one or more of their associates.

This "communication gift-giving" is both delicate and deliberate. First, the thought must be relevant. It must speak to the issues of the listener, Second, it must be well-wrapped. Leaders learn the language. They are as comfortable with a comma as they are with a question mark. Nouns and verbs are parked in their reserved spaces, and adjectives and adverbs don't embarrass their subjects. Third, the presentation should be clear, concise, correct, and generously decorated with humorous or poignant illustrations.

Good communicators leave no doubt about the meaning of their message. They know that the communication process isn't complete until the audience has both listened and understood the delivered message. When great leaders communicate, everyone around them knows what's going on. They know because the leader made sure of it.

"To be effective, Leaders must know how to communicate their visions effectively and how to enlist the cooperation of others."

Quotables Quotes: "Ang Buhay Nga Naman" (Oh...That's Life)

Sometimes we needed to hear and read inspirational quotes and stories to surpass this critical and recession times.

"The people on our planet are not standing in a line single file. Look closely.
Everyone is really standing in a circle, holding hands.
Whatever you give to the person standing next to you,
it eventually comes back to you."

"While earning you daily bread, be sure
you share a slice with those less fortunate."

An older gentlemen in front of me at the check ou at
Kroger's was wearing a hat with this inscription:

IF WE HAD KNOWN GRANDKIDS WERE SO MUCH FUN,
WE'D HAVE HAD THEM FIRST.
I bet he's a great grandad.

Life is teaching you some painful lessons.
But is is from adversity that strength is born.
You may have lost the inning, but I know
you'll win the game.

A survey asked, "Who are the happiest people?"
The four winning answers were:

A craftsman or artist whistling over a job well done.
A child building sand castles.
A mother bathing her baby.
A doctor who has finished a difficult
operation and saved a life.

Money, power and
possessions were not mentioned.

Quotables Quotes: All In A Day's Work

A few quotable quotes related to work and how to achieve success in life.

"Awareness is a major key to success.
Keep your radar finely tuned.
You never know where a good idea will
come from
or how far it will take you."

"People can be divided into three groups:
Those who make things happen.
Those who watch things happen.
Those who wonder what happened.
Congratulations on being the Captain of the
First Group."

"Success in business is like a riding a bicycle.
Either you keep moving or you fall over."
"True wealth is what you are,
not what you have."

"There's no limit to what you can achieve
If you don't mind who gets the credit".

"So you wish that all the problems at work
would go away. Maybe you'd better think
again. When problems cease, so do opportunities.
Solviing problems was the reason you were hired.
And it's been my experience that jobs
with few problems
don't pay very much."

I Am Not Crazy!

Just last night I received a good news that also makes me sad and make me ask" what's wrong with men these days? Do they know how to recognize a diamond from foil? A fake one from a real gem?

I love this person very much and somebody hurt her that makes me wanna cry in silent protest against her present situation. I want to be there for her and I want to hate the person who put her in this situation.

I am in dilemma because I don't know how to help her tell her parents about her situation eventhough I've been there 1 or 2 years ago. What I did was to ask the help of my friends which is also a friend of my parents. Who will act as a moderator this time? I don't wanna compare myself to her because she's much stronger and intelligent but she's now in this situation.

I'm mixed emotions right now, i want to get angry, i want to cry, shout " damn all the irresponsible men", i am sad, frustrated and at the same time happy. I am not crazy but I am clueless on what's the best thing to do, because i'm not sure if what i'm thinking will produce good results and will be beneficial to all the parties involved.

Our Eyes: How to Nourish our Vision

Nourish your vision....

The eyes need Vitamin A to make pigments that absorb light. Carrots and sweet potatoes have betacarotene, a precursor form of vitamin A so eat lots of these. Other rich sources of vitamin A include fish and full cream dairy products.

Vitamin C and E , which has antioxidant properties may help slow progression of cataracts. Nuts and seeds has lots of Vitamin A and Citrus fruits and brocolli for Vitamin C.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are two dominant pigments found in the macula of the eye which may filter out some of the harmful light that can damage the retina. Lutein is in leafy vegetables and egg yolk, while zeaxanthin is in greens, red capsicum and corn.

Zinc can also slow age-related macular degeneration, so maintain your intake of this nutrient through seafood, meat, poultry and beans.

I need and want to...Help me!

I need to learn to understand each person's personalities, why they are like this and like that.

I need to learn to practice patience to my coleagues.

I need to make people see that I am also a person who can be hurt by their words.

I need to see a psychiatries, maybe I am really the person to blame for their misfortunes.

I want to be able to tell on a persons face to shut up....you're really hurting me..

I need to stand up on my own and be assertive.

I need to tell them about my feelings and plans in the future so that they will not be shock.

If only I can do this immediately!!!

Resign and stay at home and take care of my child and parents.

Be financially independent.

Be healed from my heart ailments.

Be free from all the heartaches and pain.

Please Help me!!! I need to understand that I am still living and I still have to endure and surpass all these pains!!!

Am I really the person to blame?

Am I really the person to blame?...
Office scenario...Lunch break...five to six persons are eating together from different offices with only one department. Kwentuhan....dessert... turon and then one topic led to another and to only one person.. Peanut... her nickname.

She used to be my immediate superior when I was still a working student. She used to be nice to me, and i am to her. It all started when she became my colleague and we became co-workers with the same status in the university. I don't know what happened to her but she became my tormentor, always checking if i did something wrong and telling everybody about it, in other words she became a pain in the ass.

She's now telling everybody that i am ungrateful to her...for what? I telling this story now because my colleague now is experiencing what i have been experiencing in the past and they are blaming me. For what? because i am associated daw with them, kaya damay daw sila. Is it really my fault? Ang sakit nilang magsalita...wala daw akong utang na loob...eh wala na nga akong connection sa kanya ngayon.. as much as possible i stear clear of her path... we don't cross our paths now. I am not talking to her and she's to me.

The Prayer

I asked God to take away my bad habit
God said "NO"
It is not for me to take away, it is for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said "NO" her spirits is whole, his body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
He said "NO", Patience is a by-product of tribulations, it isn't granted but learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
He said "NO".
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said "NO".
I will give you life, so that you might enjoy all the things.

May God Bless us all!!!

Ang Aking Tatay (My Father)

Most of us agree that "Mothers knows best" but have we ever heard of "Father knows best"? I am not a "daddy's girl" but i appreciate him more these past few years. I am grateful to both of my parents for always being with me, helping me take care of my baby, coping with my sickness.

Since June is a father's month, I am writing these simple blog as a tribute to my father!!!

You're always there to help us.
You're very good and very nice to your grandchild.

You always bring me to office and pick me up after work. ( I hope soon my husband will do this)
You always bought our ulam and cooked for us.

Jorella at 16 Months

Jhorella Mae Gabriel or we call her jorey is now 16 months old. She's now walking and sometimes trying to jump and run on the bed. She can now easily say "mama, papa, tata, na...." and ahahahaha... which we don't understand. She hums when she hears her favorite songs like "I love you" by Barney, Cuppy Cake and TV commercials (Frutini, Colgate etc.)

She's not always in good mood, she's now trying our patience especially during changing of diapers. She will sit and even lay down on anything if she's irritated or we get something she's playing.

She knows hand language of saying goodbye, flying kiss, appear, align...

I hope in the next month she can say more words....
